Yes, Virginia..., the Statue of Liberty is a noble monument of national stature....


On this, we can all proudly agree. We can even agree that the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, and the Brooklyn Bridge are iconic objects of uncritical devotion.

We can also probably agree that there is , somewhere in the deep inner sanctums of the Homeland Security behemoth, grants committee members with egg all over their faces for incredulously including the statement that "New York doesn't have any monuments." And on the face of NID John Negroponte, who surely signed off on the grants package.

Their bad. Now, get over it...!
