U.S. House of Representatives Intelligence Committee member Jane Harman says NYTimes should be prosecuted for NSA leak....

Kudos to Democrat U.S. Represenative Jane Harman, ranking member on the U.S. House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, for taking a principled national security stand with regard to The New York Times' damaging our nation's security by publishing info about a top-secret highly-classified NSA surveillance program. A long-time member of the House Intel Committee, Harman has consistently been strong on national defense.

Rep. Harman believes the Times should be prosecuted for their actions. PelicanPost takes the same position and believes also that the CIA employee(s) who leaked that information should be tried for espionage---along with the Times and its employees who were involved.

There were no "whistleblowers" here. There are other avenues provided by law that legitimate whistleblowers are required to take to report suspected wrongdoing. Giving classified information to the mainstream media press is not one of those avenues.

More on this below and here.

"Jane Harman: NY Times Should be Prosecuted"

"In a stunning break with her party, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee said Sunday that the New York Times should be prosecuted for damaging national security by revealing the National Security Agency's top secret terrorist surveillance program authorized by President Bush.

"If the press was part of the process of delivering classified information, there have to be some limits on press immunity," Rep. Jane Harman told NBC's "Meet the Press."
