False impression given of U.S. Secretary of State Condaleeza Rice's pointing gesture.... using AP photo....

Readers, I watched the entire press conference in which Secretary Rice used her "pointing" gesture during the time she was taking questions, many of which were related to the problem with Iran, its nuclear development, its confrontation of the national community, and diplomatic actions that were being taken as a deterrent. Her pointing was used only in identifying the next questioner, not as a threatening gesture toward Iran.

However, that was the impression given when it accompanied an article.... seemingly to give Rice an ominous, threatening persona, when she had a serious expression simply because of the gravity of the topic itself.

See article re press conference here, "Rice Presses U.N. to Confront Defiant Iran."

Someone owes Secretary Rice an apology....

Another false impression in the news today, courtesy of the Associated Press (AP), is exposed by frontpagemag in: "BLANDLY MISLEADING HEADLINE OF THE DAY:"

"The blandly misleading headline of the day, from the Associated Press (who, along with Reuters, has apparently stopped identifying when their wire stories are written by Palestinian stringers): Three Palestinians Killed in Violence."

Of those “three Palestinians,” one blew himself up and the other two were “militants” involved in a gun battle."
