Big smile on the face of America's newest U.S. Supreme Court Justice....!!

Probably looks like the smiles on millions of American faces throughout the country right about now. Including mine....!

Oh, happy day....!!!

Chalk one up for our hang-tough American hero, President George W. Bush....!!

Sam Alito was a big winner today.... but so was George "W" Bush.

President Bush has now succeeded in getting two outstanding and superbly qualified judges elevated to the highest court in the land, the United States Supreme Court.

Hopefully, they won't be the last.... between now and the end of 2008.

New U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.... What a great day for America and the U.S. Constitution....!!

Hard-left Democrats, who prefer activist Judges and Justices who treat the U.S. Constitution like silly putty to be re-molded, declared war on the nomination of federal court Judge Sam Alito.

They lost. Alito won!

HOORAY....!! Now confirmed as Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge Samuel Alito will be sworn in today.

Breaking News: Judge Samuel Alito has now been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Senate Democrats have forever changed the dynamic of the U.S. Senate advise, consent and confirmation process. They did so by employing politics of personal destruction, filibustering the Executive Branch nominee, and turning turn the confirmation process into a political campaign to push their hard-left ideology and their political and social agendas---all in order to block Alito's confirmation.

Playing to their hard-left base, particularly pro-abortion interest groups, forty-two of the hard-left Senate Democrats---having failed in their first-time-in-the-history-of-this-country filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee---voted "NO" as their names were called, one-by-one, for their votes.

The hard-left lost. The final vote was 52-48. But, hey...., a win is a win. And Justice Alito will now take his seat on the Supreme Court.

This is a very good day for America and our constitutional republic!

More here.
"Senate Confirms Alito for Supreme Court"

"Samuel Anthony Alito Jr., the son of an Italian immigrant and a longtime lawyer, prosecutor and judge, was confirmed as the 110th Supreme Court justice in one of the most partisan voites for a high court nominee in modern history....

Alito, 55, planned to watch his confirmation from a television in the White House's Roosevelt Room. The former U.S. appeals court judge will quickly be sworn in at the Supreme Court before his expected appearance at Bush's annual State of the Union speech.... with the White House's other new Supreme Court judge, Chief Justice John Roberts.

Alito will be ceremonially sworn in a second time at a White House East Room appearance on Wednesday.

Bill Clinton wants President George W. Bush to do as he did.... lie down with Hammas terrorist dogs, like Clinton did with terrorist Yassar Arafat....

Readers, here's an article that shows us exactly why Bill Clinton was the weak and amoral president that he was. Always weak on terrorism, Clinton now wants President Bush to engage in a dialogue with terrorist group leaders of Hamas. Yeah...., those same terrorists who just beat the ruling terrorist group Fatah in the Palestinian election.

Clinton wants Bush to make a mistake like Clinton, himself, made---when he got in bed with Egyptian terrorist Yassar Arafat, who was posing as a Palestinian all the while he fleeced the Palestinian people.

And Bubba Clinton believes that Hamas terrorists, who are swearing they will destroy Israel and all Israelis and who hate Americans because they support Israel's right to live in peace in their own historical homeland, will change their terrorist stripes for "peace"---if only Bush will deal with them.

Bubba also labels the Bush Administration's policy of refusal to deal with terrorists as "political correctness." This is what I call reverse-psychology Bush-baiting. Bubba wants us to all believe that our current President is a "politically correct" meanie. It's his sly, but obvious attempt to incorporate the all-liberal-all-the-time concept of "political correctness"---which is the antithesis of Republicanism or conservativism---into another weapon in the Democrats' highly charged war against all Republicans, conservatives and the Bush Administration.

"Political correctness" was created and has been used exclusively by hard-left liberal Democrats to control and limit Republicans' dialogue with the American people. They have turned the words "political correctness" into four-letter words---four letter words they could use to brand, label and bash their perceived conservative enemies on the right--- every time those targeted enemies differed with hard-left Democrats and their secular-humanist if-it-feels-good-do-it ideology and their anti-Bush, anti-war, anti-life, anti-Christian agendas.

What collossal tripe and Bush-baiting from the partisan politics-to-the-core former American president who is morally and ethically unable to follow tradition and refrain from undermining a sitting American president.

Ya'll know whoumtalkin'bout.... It's that "depends on what the word is is" Bush-bashing has-been who has trouble accepting the true meaning of the word "former."

What's that old saw about lying down with dogs and getting up with fleas? Well, we all know that when "President" Clinton lay down repeatedly with terrorist dog Yassar Arafat--- the same Clinton who burned American flags in Europe and Russia while fleeing the draft during the Vietnam War---he already had fleas. Giving aid and comfort to the communist enemy fleas.

Read about Clinton's pro-interaction-with-terrorists call.... below or at the above link.
"Bill Clinton Urges Dialogue with Hamas"

"Ex-president Bill Clinton is urging the U.S. to establish a dialogue with Hamas in the wake of its upset victory in last week's Palestinian parliamentary elections, saying it would be wrong to cut off contact with the terror group just because they may have killed people "in a way that we hate."

"You've got to find a way to at least open doors," Clinton told the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Saturday....

He then complained: "One of the politically correct things in American politics ... is we just don't talk to some people that we don't like, particularly if they ever killed anybody in a way that we hate."

Addressing complaints that Hamas has vowed to destroy Israel, Clinton explained: "We need to be practical here . . . It took the Palestinian Authority years before they took [the same vow] out of their charter."

In comments reported by Agence France Press, the former president said there was a good chance, instead, that Hamas "may wind up like the IRA and Sinn Fein."
He also argued that Palestinians who voted for Hamas weren't necessarily endorsing the terror group's aims.

"For every one person who said they voted for Hamas because they wanted to see Israel destroyed, there were one hundred who said they just wanted a change and better life," he insisted.

Two wiley Democrat coyotes in the U.S. Senate are suited up as suicide "filiblasters" to go after that fleet-footed "Robe Runner," Sam Alito....

They lit their fuses early.... to be ready at the first sound of a "beep! beep," when Robe Runner Sam speeds byyyyyyeeeee....

Some guys just have to learn the hard way how to keep from blowing up their own sorry butts....

Well.... so much for the Middle East peace process between Israel and the Palestinian territories....

And so much for "democratic" elections held at the point of Hamas' and Fatah's guns.

There's no peace, love, tolerance or harmony in this terrorist bomb sneaked into Cupid's quiver.... or in Hamas' same old anti-Semitic hate message calling for the complete destruction of Israel and its people....

That was no fair, free and democratic election that brought these terrorists into power to replace the old terrorist leaders. And the process for selecting candidates was not fair, free or democratic, either.

A crooked election like that should be nullified and replaced with a Marshall-type plan to force the peace, administer the Palestinian territories, lay the groundwork for legitimate elections in the future, and guide the process of the writing of a constitution---in order to achieve anything close to a true and lasting peace.

In other words, that terrorist bomb needs to be taken out of the quiver. Forcefully, if neccessary.

No more American money should be poured down the same old rathole and used to prop up and fund another Palestinian terrorist government and its future terrorism against Israel---certainly not a Hamas terrorist government backed by Iran, an axis of evil terrorist nation, and terrorism-supporting Syria.

Pres.George W. Bush & Vice. Pres. Dick Cheney met with U.S. Senate Republican Conference yesterday. Bush supported Alito in Radio Address today.

President Bush and Vice Pres. Cheney met yesterday with the Senate Republican Conference, just ahead of Tuesday's scheduled up or down vote on the confirmation of federal Judge Samuel Alito to become an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Today, Bush gave his weekly Radio Address to the nation, pressing for an up or down vote on Judge Alito, as is constitutionally required of the U.S. Senate. You can read a transcript of his address at

There is also an article excerpted below, "Bush Presses Alito Nomination on Radio." You can read the rest of it here.
"President Bush gave Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito a broadcast boost Saturday, calling for a simple up-or-down Senate confirmation vote despite a blocking effort by some Democrats.

A final vote on whether to make the conservative federal appellate judge the nation's 110th Supreme Court justice is scheduled for Tuesday unless opponents win an uphill battle to impose a filibuster.

"The Senate has a constitutional responsibility to hold an up-or-down vote on Judge Alito's nomination," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "Throughout its 216-year history, the Senate has held an up-or-down vote on every Supreme Court nominee with majority Senate support...."

MA Senators John Kerry and Ted Kennedy have been bleating the "F" word.... Kerry, from across the pond on the ski-slopes....

And they have been joined by another presidential hopeful, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, who has come out strongly in favor of the filibuster against Judge Samuel Alito. Clinton was already against Alito and said at first she would not filibuster the vote for his confirmation as Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. Read about her flip-flop here.

But, it was Vietnam War era fake "hero" John Kerry who first stepped up to be the big hero of the fanatical hard-left's pro-abortion crowd.

Kerry is continuing as long-term carrier of water for his mentor, Ted Kennedy, who is on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and has been leading the charge there against Judge Samuel Alito.

Its another way for the tag-team of Kerry and Kennedy to go after the one man they both hate the most---George W. Bush.

Kerry was Kennedy's "boy" for the presidency---the only way for Kennedy to be a power broker in the White House, since he could never be elected to serve there, himself, with all his sordid baggage. But the tag-team lost, both becoming rabidly bitter from the loss.

Last I heard tonight, the tag-team duo's filibuster plot is fizzling---with more Democrat Senators unwilling to play in their game, because they're smarting from the heat they're getting and realize the cost could be too dear in this election year and in 2008.

Still, Hillary went ahead and jumped into the filibuster fray---to grab some headlines to boost her sagging poll numbers and her run for the presidency.

In spite of these three fanatical zealots of the hard-left....
George W. Bush wins again....!

Palestinian election: An object lesson on voting.... when there are no legitimate choices on the ballot...

Problem with the Palestinian territories is that they have an inadequate mongoose population....

A mongoose is a fiesty and fearless little critter that is the onliest enemy of the king cobra. An enemy that can, without any trepidation or misgivings, snatch a cobra right out of its pit.... and end its hissing forever.

Sort of like what Ariel Sharon had to do to the terrorists for so many years.

(Hat tip to Gary Brookins for political 'toon)

It's time for Jimmy Carter to retire to the peanut farm.... or a memory care center....

Jimmy Carter and the United Nations think the Palestinians had a fair and democratic election....

Wonder which of the two terrorist groups they were backing....? Or...., was it just an exercise in support of continued propping up of faux "Palestinians"...." Or...., just a show of support for all things anti-Semitic.....? Or...., both....?

You know...., the usual Jew-baiting and Jew bashing propaganda, revisionist history, and hate crimes. All in the name of taking ancient, historically Jewish land from---of all people---the Jews.

(Hat tip to Cox & Forkum for political 'toon)

The Palestinian election was neither democratic nor legitimate....!

The "peace" process between Israel and the Palestinian Territories is now on the road to nowhere.... Again....

Only difference is.... there are now two elected Palestinian terrorist groups expecting to bamboozle and eradicate Israel. Both of these terrorist groups have only one plan and one map.... to literally remove Israel off the Middle East map and drive all Israelis into the sea. They just differ on which terrorist thugs will lead in that extermination.

And, since nobody else is saying it, I will: An election between two groups---both armed and both comprised of terrorists---IS NOT A DEMOCRATIC OR LEGITIMATE ELECTION!

Somebody needs to tell Jimmy Carter.... and the United Nations.... and the rest of the bleeding-heart Palestinian sympathizers....

Massachusetts' two hard-left Democrat U.S. Senators, John Kerry & Ted Kennedy lead unprecedented filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee....

Fake war "hero" Senator John Kerry is leading the hard-left's desperate last-ditch campaign to filibuster the confirmation of federal Judge Samuel Alito and block him from taking a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Kerry took time out from his skiing the slopes in Davos, Switzerland to set up the dirty deed. A poor man's gotta do what a poor man's gotta do, don'chaknow....

Kerry is backed by his fellow pro-Communist Senator Teddy rush-to-dry-land-to-save-only-himself Kennedy. Both are fallen away Catholics who champion the murder of living babies in the wombs of American women---and some halfway delivered from those wombs and ready to take their first breaths of air in the next stage of their lives. Only to have those lives snuffed out.

Kerry's and Kennedy's primary allegiance is to Roe v. Wade, in concert with Roe's legions of defenders---defenders who are major backers of the two MA Senators. Moral munchkins of a feather.... flocking together.

They are desperately trying to block a Catholic judge from being approved to serve as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.

At no time in the history of this country has a Supreme Court nominee been filibustered. That's because it is unconstitutional.

But that hasn't stopped hard left Senate Democrats from filibustering many of President George W. Bush's nominees to other federal courts for the first time in history, either---one of whom Bush recess-appointed after he was unconstitutionally filibustered.

What's wrong with this picture? Or...., more aptly put, what isn't wrong with this picture?

Read about it below and here.
"Kerry Takes His Cues From Left Wing"

"Sen. John Kerry (D.-Mass.) is traveling in Davos, Switzerland, but that didn’t stop him from launching what conservatives are calling an “international filibuster” against Samuel Alito.

As CNN reported Kerry’s plans to filibuster Alito’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, the liberal People For the American Way reacted with glee to the news. Kerry’s cohort from Massachusetts, Sen. Teddy Kennedy, also offered encouragement....

At 5:52 p.m., Kennedy’s office mailed the following statement to reporters:

"Other than voting to send our men and women to war, there is no more important vote in the Senate than our vote on a Supreme Court nominee. This is a vote of a generation and a test of conscience. Judge Alito does not share the values of equality and justice that make this country strong. He does not deserve a place on the highest court of the land. "We owe it to future generations of Americans to oppose this nomination. If Judge Alito is confirmed, he will serve on the court long after President Bush leaves office, and the progress of half a century on the basic rights of all Americans is likely to be rolled back. He’s the wrong Justice for justice and the rule of law in America...."

I don’t have foggiest idea if this is a vast left-wing conspiracy, mysteriously orchestrated by Kerry as he snowboards in Davos. But the sudden embrace of Kerry’s action by the pro-abortion professionals' group, the liberal People For the American Way and Teddy "Windbag" Kennedy seems to suggest this idea was at least floated (and probably well scripted) amongst some of the country’s top left-wing decision makers.

As Sen. George Allen (R.-Va.) so eloquently said today: “Senator Kerry must be feeling lucky because he wants to make my day.”

So, do you feel lucky, punk....?"

Former Iraqi General Georges Sada says Osama bin Laden visited Baghdad while Saddam still in power & Saddam definitely moved WMD to Syria....

What a surprise....! Now we have evidence from an Iraqi citizen who was, for many years, the second highest official in the Iraqi military, that OBL definitely visited Iraq for military purposes and Saddam Hussein had his weapons of mass destruction moved to Syria just before the Iraq War.

Gen. Sada was on Hannity & Colmes last night and stated that passenger planes with the seats removed were used to transport chemical labs and chemical weapons to Syria. He also described an earlier plan of Saddam Hussein to use a large number of bombers to drop chemical-laden bombs on Israel---a plan he advised Saddam not to carry out.

Funny...., we are hearing very little from the hard left Democrats and their allied mainstream media about these new WMD and Saddam/Osama link revelations.

Could it be because now, after the hard left's 5 years of excoriating Pres. George W. Bush, branding him a "liar" about Iraq's WMD, and endlessly repeating their mantra that Saddam had no WMD and we were lied into war---they are proven wrong and are loathe to admit it?

I'd say those naysaying maligners deserve a big huge helping of crow---before God and everybody---feathers, beaks, feet, eyes, innards and all.

And, if Bush were the type to say "I told you so....," now would be the time to say it.

Read all about it in excerpts of the two articles below, and at links provided to each article, where you will also find information about General Sadas' new book.
"Iraq Official: Saddam Moved WMD to Syria"

"The former number two official in Saddam Hussein's Iraqi air force claims the former Iraqi dictator moved weapons of mass destruction from Iraq to Syria in the months preceding the current Iraq war...." here
"Iraqi General: Bin Laden Visited Baghdad"

Iran's mad-mad President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.... and his favorite toy....

Somebody needs to tell this guy that playing with yellow-cake and nuclear fission while imitating Adolf Hitler, threatening Israel and the U.S., and thumbing his nose at the international community.... is no way to win friends and influence people.

The holocaust he creates.... may be Iran's.... brought on by him and his insanity....

Hard-left Democrats.... clueless in Washington.... and everywhere else!

After the holocaust of 9/11, Democrats screamed that the Bush Administration must "connect the dots...."

Now that they've got the President connecting those vital dots that tie al Qaeda terrorists to people in the U.S., they try to act like they never wanted.... demanded.... that the dots be connected the first place....

In fact, they leap before microphones and cameras to accuse the President of "breaking the law" and trashing the Constitution with his connecting those infamous dots....

Perfect example of the hard-left's knee-jerk circular reasoning.... Poor things.... they just don't have a clue....

What they do have is their political-war, masquerading as an election-year agenda... a presidential election on the not too distant horizon.... and an on-going mania to destroy Bush, his entire administration, and any Republican with leadership skills in Congress....

They keep on doing it and they keep on getting the same resulting losses. Like I said...., they just don't have a clue!

Iron Matron Hillary Clinton, U.S. Senator from NY, bashes President George W. Bush on NSA wiretaps.... which she implies are illegal.

Jumping right on the hard-left Democrats' bash-Bush-bandwagon, Hillary Clinton delivers a blistering attack on Bush's NSA surveillance of communications between al Qaeda-related terrorists with people in this country. An attack no doubt intended to smear President Bush right before his State of the Union address.

If Iron Matron Hillary's hubby---in their co-presidency---had not forbidden intelligence communication sharing between the intel community and law enforcement and had allowed sufficient wiretapping to track the two al Quada suicide bombers in this country two years before 9/11---maybe that attack on the U.S., with all its collossal horror, death and destruction, would never have happened.

We all live with the horror of it. It is etched in our memories forever.

Is the opportunistic Iron Matron breathing fire and blowing smoke to keep the onus on George W. Bush and not on examining with a critical eye exactly why the Clinton co-presidency neutered the intel community, hid critical intel already gathered, and fiddled as al Qaeda infiltrated this country to carry out their terrorist acts....?

Read it below and here.
"Sen. Clinton Blasts Bush on Eavesdropping"

"Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Wednesday called President Bush's explanations for eavesdropping on domestic telephone calls "strange" and "far-fetched," launching a blistering attack on the White House ahead of the president's State of the Union address....

"Obviously, I support tracking down terrorists. I think that's our obligation. But I think it can be done in a lawful way," the New York Democrat said....

"Their argument that it's rooted in the authority to go after al-Qaida is far-fetched," she said in an apparent reference to a congressional resolution passed after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack....

"Their argument that it's rooted in the Constitution inherently is kind of strange....

Clinton leveled her criticism at a meeting of the nation's mayors while Bush toured the National Security Agency, which conducts the eavesdropping....

Bush and his political team have signaled that the eavesdropping program will be a campaign issue in November, part of a broader strategy to cast Democrats as weak on terrorism...."

Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich says Iran's President Ahmadinejad is "as close to Adolf Hitler as we've seen...."

Readers, it seems that Newt Gingrich has had the courage to put into words our own concerns and fears about the reality of the situation Israel and the U.S. are facing in opposing a nuclear Iran and its fanatical new President who is on an extreme Wahabist-style messianic mission.

This maniacal anti-Semite is reported this week to have put human shields comprised of Iranian children around one of his coveted nuclear sites. And in today's news, he threatens to put Israel into a coma just like the coma of Ariel Sharon.... as he concurrently threatens and tries to blackmail the west---Israel and the U.S., in particular.

Read about those threats here and below the Newt Gingrich remarks that are presented directly below and here.
"Newt Gingrich: Iran’s President is the New Hitler"

"Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich says that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is as big a threat to global security as Adolf Hitler was in the 1930's - and he's urging President Bush to do everything possible to overthrow his regime....

Like the top Nazi, Ahmadinejad has openly urged the extermination of the Jews, saying in October that Israel should be "wiped off the map." In recent weeks the Iranian madman has also repeated questioned historical reports on the Holocaust....

"We should indicate without any question that we are going to take the steps necessary to replace the regime and we should then act accordingly...." "And we should say to the Europeans that there is no diplomatic solution that is imaginable that is going to solve this problem."

Gingrich invoked the example of Franklin Delano Roosevelt to justify a preemptive strike against Iran, recalling: "In September 1941, when we sank a German submarine while we were technically at peace, [FDR] did a nationwide radio address and said, 'If you are standing next to a rattle snake, you do not have an obligation to wait until it bites you before you decide it’s dangerous....'
From the Jerusalem Post:" Iran: We'll put Israel in 'eternal coma'

"TEHERAN, IRAN - Were Israel to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, Iran would respond so strongly that it would put the Jewish state into "an eternal coma" like Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's, the Iranian defense minister said Wednesday.

"Zionists should know that if they do anything evil against Iran, the response of Iran's armed forces will be so firm that it will send them into eternal coma, like Sharon," Gen. Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said.

Najjar said the United States and Israel have been trying to frighten Iran, but neither country would dare attack to Iran...."

The Vermont Guardian has uncovered information that U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-VT got contributions from law firms linked to Jack Abramoff....

The Vermont Guardian has discovered and printed information to support the claim that the Abramoff scandal is not simply a Republican problem. In their article, "Pat Leahy Labeled 'Abramoff Democrat,'" they explain the Leahy link to Abramoff money. The money was channeled through two high-powered law firms linked to Abramoff---law firms that allegedly "bundled" money that came from Abramoff to the law firms and was then given by those law firms to Leahy.

Bundling was apparently the method used to hide who the actual contributor of the money passed on to Sen. Leahy was---so says Jim Barnett, Executive Director of the Vermont Republican Party.

Leahy is the ranking minority leader on the Senate Judiciary Committee who just voted "no" yesterday, refusing to confirm the honorable and ethical Judge Samuel Alito to serve as Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

So, let's have an investigation into this "bundled" Abramoff money that went stealthily through a conduit of high-powered law firms to Leahy and whether he reported it fully and accurately, as required. Then we'll see if Leahy has the honesty, integrity and ethics that would qualify him to sit in judgment of a fine man like Sam Alito.

Abramoff money that went to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and Sen. Hillary Clinton should also be investigated and tracked to see just how they ended up getting it---and how they accounted for/reported it as required by federal law law.

Personally, I think Leahy does not qualify to judge anyone else's fitness to serve and should have to come clean and prove his own fitness to even be a U.S. Senator.

And neither do any of the rest of the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee---all of whom put their own political ideologies and political litmus tests above the U.S. Constitution when they did not follow the Constitution in the advise, consent and confirmation process for Judge Alito. Just as they have done in that same process for many other federal court nominees sent by Pres. George W. Bush to the Senate for approval.

This cabal of renegade political hacks has set themselves up as an unconstitutional screening committee to keep Bush's nominees from ever getting to the floor of the U.S. Senate for an up or down vote---and they have used unconstitutional filibusters, unprecedented in the advise and consent process, to block those nominees.

It's time the Senate Ethics Committee and the full body of elected Senators did their job and put a stop to such unlawful, obstructive tactics by the Democrats. If anything should be included in ethics oversight and "reform" taking place now, these vicious and destructive practices should be at the top of the list, along with the names of all current Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Read about it below and here.
"While national Democrats are calling the Jack Abramoff lobbying imbroglio a "Republican scandal," top Vermont Democrat, Sen. Pat Leahy, is being labeled an "Abramoff Democrat" by home state critics.

The Vermont Guardian has uncovered thousands of dollars in contributions to Leahy by lawfirms linked to Abramoff - though the senator's spokesman says that any suggestion of a relationship to the disgraced Republican is ridiculous....

However, the Guardian says it has discovered that Leahy "received thousands of dollars from attorneys at Preston, Gates, Ellis, Meeds and Rouvelas, and Greenberg Traurig, the two high-powered legal firms where Abramoff hung his hat...."

Jim Barnett, Executive Director of the Vermont Republican Party, told the paper:
"Everyone knows that this is a process called bundling, and that Abramoff would walk into the firm and ask attorneys to donate $1,000, $500, or $250 to a campaign. This is Abramoff money and this is just an example of the utter hypocrisy that this issue only affects Republicans.

"Pat Leahy is an Abramoff Democrat,” Barnett insisted...."

Hard-Left U.S. Senate Democrats are still trying desperately to roast Judge Samuel Alito on the spit....

Today, Democrats on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee re-packaged and re-rolled out their leftover partisan political propaganda from the Alito hearings.... because that's all they've got. More of the same-old-same-old radical accusations.... because that's all they've got.

In this so-called advise and consent process, they first tried to skewer and grill Judge Samuel Alito. That didn't work for them.

Then, they tried to turn him and his professional career into mincemeat. Curses.... foiled again!

Now, they are trying to roast him on the spit.... even though they've long since burned up all their matches in their attempts to burn his reputation at the stake. But does that stop them....? Nooooo......

Senate Democrats' statements today were just re-heated, re-served-up hash thrown out over and over, in the hope that some of it would find its way and stick to the wall.

In their frantic desperation, they've done everything but kick over Alito's trashcan and rape his cat....!

Give it a rest, guys....! It's your own gooses that you've been cooking.... not Alito's! Clips of Democrats from these hearings, statements and soon-to-be debate on the floor of the Senate will play well in red-state America during the 2006 and 2008 campaigns and elections.

Unlike those who have treated Judge Alito so unfairly and unequally.... most Americans prefer honesty and fair play.

Johnny-One-Note Kerry takes out after the Bush Administration.... again....

Monsieur le Pompadour, a/k/a Johnny-One-Note Kerry, is upset by Karl Rove's statement the other day that Republicans would make national security a hallmark of their 2006 campaigns....

After suffering under the weight of all that bouffant hair plastered with hair spray for so many years, M'sieur cannot comprehend why national security would be a profound and timely issue for Republicans---who have taken a strong, united position against terrorism and followed through on it to protect the American people.

Kerry, having taken his same old anti-America, anti-troops, anti-war position over and over and over for 40 years, cannot get off that note and onto a realistic, 21st century tune. And he can't get out from under the thumb of his life-long mentor---that rush to dry-land to save only himself, Teddy Kennedy.

Funny, those two guys never come up with anything new of any import.... preferring always to just reactively carp at those who are able to come up with new ideas and the courage to do what it takes to preserve our freedoms and our democratic republic.

Hat-tip to John Cox for the above 'toon and posting
here, today, in which Kerry says "I want to have that debate every single day."

Seewhuttamean about Johnny-one-note....?

Osama bin Laden is coming to get you.... aha, aha...

Something tells me these patriotic Americans don't mind a bit having terrorists' telephone calls wire-tapped and monitored....

Seems like a small thing compared to suicide-terrorists' flying gas-filled jets full of people into two huge skyscrapers in New York City, into the Pentagon in our nation's capitol, and into a field in Pennsylvania on the way to Washington, DC---killing thousands.

If we had had pre-9/11 wire-taps, that unprecedented attack on this country might not have occurred at all.

Beware, fellow Floridians....!! FL's U.S. Senator Bill Nelson is doing a 180 degree flip-flop on Supreme Court nominee, Judge Samuel Alito....

Being a Floridian myself, I am concerned that one of our two U.S. Senators is now playing the Democrat flip-flop game. It's something they apparently cannot---or do not want to---overcome.

Just last week Sen. Nelson was making noises that indicated he would vote for Alito. Now, perhaps under intense pressure from the hard-left Democrat leadership in the Senate, he is waffling on his own earlier position on Judge Alito.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has been putting pressure on all Democrat Senators to vote against Alito---even before the Senate Judiciary Committee met this morning and voted, 10-8, to send the Alito nomination to the full 100-member Senate for debate and an up or down vote.

There is still the possibility that radical Democrats in the Senate---including those on the Judiciary Committee who politicized all Committee hearings on Alito and the pre-vote statements this morning, distorting Alito's record on the appeals court, his responses in Committee hearings and his character, principles and personal philosophy---will continue their partisan politicization of the process on the Senate floor.

Just as they continued their earlier political attacks this morning, making specious accusations and displaying mock horror that Alito would not answer their biased and hypothetical questions---questions no other nominee to the Supreme Court has ever answered. Not Justice Brennan.... not Justice Ginsberg.

Except for Judge Robert Bork, that is.... He made one remark that played into their hands and they "borked" him. And that is exactly what they have been and are trying to do to Judge Alito.... "Bork" him.

They have their noses out of joint because they tried so hard, to no avail, to trip Alito up in the Committee hearings and get him to make a statement they could jump on to enable them to destroy his nomination. Just as they failed in their unabashed efforts to get him to answer questions that would later require him to recuse himself in cases relating to hot-button Democrat issues such as Roe v. Wade and its unconstitutional creation of a "right" to unlimited abortions.

They are furious it didn't work. Alito didn't fall for it no matter how hard they went at it.... overandoverandoverandoverandover, ad infinitum. He cooly and calmly proved himself to be un-"borkable."

These Democrats also turned their statements this morning into a political hit job on the President, in addition to Judge Alito. Sen. Russ Feingold sounded as if he were kicking off his 2008 presidential campaign, using Alito and President Bush as his proxy political footballs. Sen. Diane Feinstein let her worship at the altar of Roe v. Wade hang out there for all the country to see and hear why she won't vote for Alito---the heck with his qualifications and fitness to serve.
Roe comes first.

To hear those partisan zealots tell it, Sam Alito is no better than an axe murderer who would take his axe to the Bill of Rights.

Look for more of the same on the floor of the full Senate in the final phase of the confirmation process. And don't be surprised if these fanatics try to play the unconstitutional judicial filibuster card.

I actually hope they do try a filibuster. It's time for that political tool to be taken permanently out of the Democrats' arsenal of obstructive weapons they imported from the legislative process, bringing it into the Judiciary Committee advise and consent process---for the first time in the history of this country---specifically to use against President George W. Bush's nominees to the federal courts and the Supreme Court.

Executive Branch nominees are not pieces of legislation to be filibustered. And Election 2004 votes of the majority of the American people who re-elected President Bush and sent additional Republican members to Congress---including the Senate----are not something to be disregarded.

So.... go ahead, Dems. Filibuster. Maybe a nuclear solution is what is needed to command civility, decorum, honor and principle from Senate Democrats who have, in this process, brought dishonor to the Senate and to themselves. They have no right to disrespect, abuse and smear honorable, well-qualified nominees who are Constitutionally required to come before them in the advise and consent process.

Have a look at this Editorial, here, to see exactly what Sen. Bill Nelson said earlier, as compared to what he is saying now---and how he is creating a dilemma for himself, for which he will have to answer to Florida voters later this year.

U.S. Rep. Catherine Harris, R-FL, an announced candidate for Nelson's Senate seat, must be licking her chops over the prospect of having such a gem of a campaign issue handed to her on a silver platter by a vacillating Senator who would consider compromising his earlier demonstrated inclination to be fair to Judge Sam Alito---to toe the political party line espoused by Senators Reid, Kennedy, Leahy, Schumer, Feinstein, Feingold, Durbin et al.
"SAMUEL ALITO: A senator's dilemma"

"Citing philosophical differences, Sen. Bill Nelson indicates he is leaning toward voting against the confirmation of Judge Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court. Before casting his vote, however, the Florida Democrat might want to consider the ideas expressed in the Jan. 15 Washington Post"

'Judge Alito is superbly qualified. His record on the bench is that of a thoughtful conservative, not a raging idealogue. He pays careful attention to the record and doesn't reach for the political outcomes he desires. . . . However one defines the 'mainstream' of contemporary jurisprudence, Judge Alito's work lies within it. . . . No president should be denied the prerogative of putting a person as qualified as Judge Alito on the Supreme Court.'

The Washington Post trends left of the political center. Now that it has spoken, so unequivocally, it might be difficult for senators to vote against Alito and still portray themselves as centrists...."

President Bush supports 33rd Annual March for Life in Washington, DC

I just observed, on EWTN, thousands of pro-life supporters marching in Washington, D.C. on the anniversary of the insidious Roe v. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, wherein the Court "found" (ie. created through unconstitutional judicial activism) a non-existent right in the U.S. Constitution that protects a woman's right to kill her unborn child---under the rubric of "privacy."

The 33rd Annual March in Support for Life, is a demonstration in support of ending the pandemic of abortions throughout this country that has ensued as a result of Roe v. Wade---even at the partially-birthed stage in the lives of unborn, already-living and developing human babies.

This demonstration of widespread support for life was awesome. It not only included large numbers of older people, but also vast numbers of American youth.

Fortunately, President George W. Bush supports this demonstration and the protection of human life---at all stages---from conception and birth to adulthood and, ultimately, to old age and death.

You can read some of his remarks in excerpts below, or read the entire column about the March for Life and President Bush's response to it in today's washingtontimes.

What I find stunning and extremely biased, however, is the absence of coverage of this pro-life event by the mainstream media---both print and cable news networks.

So, kudos to the Washington Times---a news media outlet that can be depended upon to provide broad-based, fair and balanced coverage of the news. Conversely, the mainstream media create, control or manipulate the news and what Americans "need" to see or hear---and what they don't get to see or hear.

The March For Life is also timely, because it occurs concurrently with the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee's vote today to approve Federal Appeals Court, Third Circuit, Judge Samuel Alito---in a 10-8 party line vote, with majority Republicans voting unanimously to approve and minority Democrats voting unanimously to reject. The debate by the full Senate will begin tomorrow, with an up or down floor vote anticipated by the end of the week.

Read on.... about the March for Life:
"Marching to overturn Roe"

"Thousands of pro-life protesters commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade court decision marched to the U.S. Capitol and the U.S. Supreme Court yesterday to urge lawmakers to overturn the ruling that legalized abortion.

President Bush praised the scores of church, school and advocacy groups that attended the annual March for Life as pursuing "a noble cause." He also called on Congress to pass laws banning human cloning and restricting girls' access to abortions without their parents' approval.

"We're working to persuade more of our fellow Americans of the rightness of our cause," Mr. Bush told the protesters in a telephone call from Manhattan, Kan. "Human life is a gift from our Creator and should never be used as a means to an end. We will not sanction the creation of life only to destroy it."

During his presidency, Mr. Bush has signed into law a bill banning partial-birth abortions. He also named Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. to the Supreme Court and nominated Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. to succeed retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Judge Alito is expected to be confirmed this week.

Yesterday, pro-life advocates said they hope that someday the high court will reverse its landmark ruling on abortion....

During the march, many protesters held signs that connected the pro-life message to the protection of elderly and disabled....

Rain and cold weather did not deter the children, teens and college students who attended the march with parents and classmates. Many said they were from Catholic schools, some of which were as far away as Missouri. They packed the Mall and held signs with messages that read "Defend Life" and "It's a Womb, Not a Tomb...."

U.S. Congress Members' Butterfly Dance of Ethics Reform....

A little soft-shoe here.... a little shuffle there.... a little smoke and mirrors to obscure the stage.... and the power-broking Senators and Representatives in Congress are going to show us some song and dance championing of the cause of cleaning up their own acts.... reforming and policing their own unethical, and perhaps illegal, behaviors in office.

Whatever happened to honestly serving the people who elected them.... and trusted them to do the right thing for the folks back home.... and for the country? Instead of serving themselves, their campaign coffers and their political ideologies, agendas and games.

We've seen this ethics reform dance before and the steps haven't just changed.... they've gotten more outrageous and become a slap in the face of "we the people."

When the unethical are the ones performing the quick-reform-to-redeem-themselves dance, maybe voters would be just as well off to do their own dance of reform.... all the way to the ballot box.

Osama bin Laden is using the hard-left Democrats' talking points....

Er.... Better make that "talking points" screeds....

Sounds all too familiar to those of us who support our President, our troops, the Iraq War and the War Against Terrorism.... and actually want the U.S. to win.

Ya know wuttumsayin'....?

In enacting the F.I.S.A. law, Congress placed unconstitutional constraints on future Presidents' power to wage war to defend America....

Readers, here is another *****Five Star, must read column by Andrew C. McCarthy, in which he thoroughly fisks the specious claims of the hard-left that President George W. Bush has violated the law and the Constitution by using U.S. intelligence and technology to monitor the enemy's communications with people in the United States.

He also fisks the intrusion by the U.S. Congress into the constitutionally assigned Executive powers of the President---particularly his power to wage war to protect America and the American people.

You will find excerpts below, but will probably want to read the entire piece at the above link---to see just how unreasoned and politically opportunistic the left's charges against President Bush and the intelligence community are.
"The Probable Cause of the NSA Controversy: A war is not a criminal investigation."

"Imagine for a moment that we are at war. (For many of us, that will not require a very active imagination.)

Our military-theater commanders in western Afghanistan and central Iraq sketch out operations against the enemy. They account for the various contingencies that might arise when confronting stealthy terrorists who shun the laws of civilized warfare. They pore over the latest intelligence estimates one last time. They position their land and air forces accordingly, and ensure that they are properly armed and ready.

And then they go ... straight to court.

Where's the Probable Cause? Why? Well, to make sure their activities meet the approval of a federal judge, of course.... Sound ridiculous? Yes, it does. But it is no more absurd than the notion that drives the current controversy over wartime electronic surveillance by the National Security Agency.

We are either at war or we are not. If we are, the president of the United States, whom the Constitution makes the commander-in-chief of our military forces, is empowered to conduct the war — meaning he has unreviewable authority to employ all of the essential incidents of war fighting.

Not some of them. All of them. Including eavesdropping on potential enemy communications. That eavesdropping — whether you wish to refer to it by the loaded "spying" or go more high-tech with "electronic surveillance" or "signals intelligence" — is as much an incident of warfare as choosing which targets to bomb, which hills to capture, and which enemies to detain....

Al Qaeda is an international terrorist network. We cannot defeat it by conquering territory. It has none. We cannot round up its citizens. Its allegiance is to an ideology that makes nationality irrelevant. To defeat it and defend ourselves, we can only acquire intelligence — intercept its communications and thwart its plans. Nothing else will do....

The president is not above the law, but neither is any other branch. The highest law in the United States is the Constitution. Congress is not above that law — and it if enacts a statute, a "law," that undermines or alters the Constitution's structure, it is Congress that has placed itself above the law....

....when Congress enacts a law that attempts to regulate a power committed by the Constitution to the president, that law is unconstitutional.

....Congress....(in past history) placed itself above the law by ignoring the Constitution's separation of powers. By attempting through legislation to dilute the executive's constitutional power.

Congress did so again with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, the 1978 statute which sought to make judicial approval, on a legal standard of probable cause, a prerequisite to national-security eavesdropping (and, now, searches).... the extent FISA limits the power of the commander-in-chief to conduct warfare, to the extent it would transfer to judges the decision whether an essential incident of warfare may be used, it is no more constitutional — or rational — than if it had purported to put the courts in charge of military target selection, or other battlefield judgments.

A blank check for the president? That is preposterous rhetoric. The commander-in-chief power includes the incidents of warfare. Nothing else.... He is no king. Indeed, if we are to talk about "the king" — as in having no clothes — our eyes should be cast on Capitol Hill....

Congress retains the power of the purse. Nothing prevents it, tomorrow, from passing a law that denies all funding for any domestic surveillance undertaken by the NSA or any other executive branch agency. The president could do nothing but veto such a bill. But if, as leading Democrats and civil-liberties extremists maintain, the NSA program is truly one of the most outrageous, execrable, impeachable acts ever committed in recorded history, that veto would easily be overridden.

So why doesn't Congress just do it? ....Because they'd lose, decisively and embarrassingly, that's why. Because they'd have to take an accountable position on life-and-death. Because such a vote, in the middle of a war in which millions of American lives are at stake, would say, unambiguously, that they actually believe the government should not monitor enemy communications unless a federal judge — someone no one voted for and voters cannot remove — decides in his infinite wisdom that there is probable cause.

It's so much easier to carp for a scandal-happy media about "the privacy rights of ordinary Americans," as if that were really the issue.

But the sound and fury signify nothing to those ordinary Americans. Two wartime Novembers ago, with national security — that is, their own safety — the defining campaign issue, they went to the polls in record numbers.

This may be news to some, but upon considering in whose hands to place the weighty responsibility of defeating al Qaeda, they didn't elect the judges of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court...."

The traitorous "Legal Left" and their War on America.... to destroy our country's ability to defend itself from terrorism....

The "Legal Left's" major aim is to bring down the United States of America. They pretend to be defending the U.S. Constitution, even as they fight a war to dismantle it, piece by piece.

The hard-left mainstream media are helping them by perpetuating the charade that presents these traitors in the media as champions of the Constitution and Bill of Rights---which could not be farther from the truth.

The "Legal Left" hate this country, they hate its free citizens, and they hate our democratic form of government. And they hate the belief systems, principles and patriotism that make this country strong.

Most of all, they hate our President and our military and security apparatus---for these stand between them and achieving their traitorous goal.

Their war against us, our country, our heritage, our freedoms, and our morals and values is a war we cannot afford to lose.

The legal left filed twin lawsuits in New York and Detroit in a "full-bore assault" on America's security aparatus....

Who is the legal left in this case? It's the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which is anti-U.S. Constitution and anti-U.S.); the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Greenpeace, and several other individuals---including writer Christopher Hitchins---all of whom are anti-U.S., anti-U.S. Constitution, and anti-Afghanistan War, Anti-Iraq War and anti-War Against Terrorism.

In short, they want to see the terrorist enemies of America and all patriotic Americans win their terrorist war against us.

Below are introductory excepts from Jacob Laksin's "The Legal Left's War on National Security." This is a *****Five Star, must read and you can finish reading it here.
"No small leap of faith is required to imagine the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), those two bastions of the “legal Left,” as paladins of the Constitution and guardians of American legal norms. CCR, after all, has consistently opposed the enforcement of U.S. immigration statutes, even vying against restrictions on immigrants who “endorse or espouse terrorist activity.”

The ACLU meanwhile has waged a concerted attack against all measures aimed at holding the enemies of American liberties—from radical Islamic mosques to terrorist suspects—to account.

But that has not kept both groups from posturing as the last line of defense against an oppressive and invasive American government. In their latest gambit, CCR and the ACLU this Tuesday filed twin lawsuits, one in New York and one in Detroit, seeking to terminate the Bush administration’s warrantless electronic surveillance of American citizens with suspected terrorism ties.

In keeping with the groups’ longtime strategy, the lawsuits charge that the surveillance amounts to an “illegal and unconstitutional program.”

In effect—and presumably by design—the lawsuits constitute a full-bore assault on the country’s security apparatus...."

Who's Google allowing to crawl and link to your website....?

And what are folks seeing in the search results when they Google your site? Are they getting search results related directly to your site and its content.... or, are they getting links to unrelated sites that are just advertising for themselves.... or pornography sites that you would never want linked to or damaging the reputation of you or your site---even child pornography?

It could happen to you. I know.... because it happened to me. There was even a search result that showed my e-mail address to the whole world.

Some web-crawlers and weblogs are allowed by the search engine company to insert such links into innocent-sounding teasers.... and searchers have no way of knowing whether or not there is something connected with your site that in some way approves of such inclusions.

Then, it practically takes an act of Congress to get such smut and unwanted links removed from search results for your site. And, if removed, they are eventually replaced with more of much the same---with some of it just hidden a little better.

I had to repeatedly e-mail Google, talk to an attorney and threaten to report them to the appropriate government oversight and investigative bodies to get some undesirable search result entries removed.

Now, when my site is Googled or when someone does a search about my site, there are still many unrelated and unwanted search result links that are in no way representative of or connected in any way to my site or its content.

And when someone Googles a current event or person's name about which I have posted a column or picture, they cannot get current links to my site to read them.... because Google no longer provides up-to-date search results for my site. Consequently, recent information added to my site---and a link to that information---are not available to those searchers. Therefore, they do not visit my site.

I don't know if Google treats my site differently because I complained or because I am a conservative and express conservative opinions and humor. Maybe they just make such great gobs of money from the covert advertisers, web-crawlers and weblogs, they don't want to give it up.

Many weblogs are O.K. Others have some porn-site links and porn or dating service links to sites that pertain to the area or city in which you live. In search results from Googling my site, they included such a link to a service in the city in which I live.

Of course, I believe such advertising on the internet, especially hidden in search engine results unrelated to the information being sought, should be a federal crime---and the law forbidding it should be vigorously enforced. And companies that are paid for and accept such advertising and covertly put it online and available to billions of people---of all ages and who were not even looking for such information---should be prosecuted and fined.... big time!

Was what happened to me unfair....?" Yes. Retaliatory...? You bet! Discriminatory....? No doubt about it.

Can it happen to you....? In a nanosecond!!

As part of her plan to aid Democrat party's assisted suicide, Hillary Clinton takes "Moo-lah" from Iran's regime of mad-Mullahs and Ahmadinijad....

...all the while the Iron Matron is slamming George W. Bush and his administration for trying, with Iran, the Democrats' earlier-insisted-upon multilateral diplomatic solution in dealing with Iraq.

Why has Hillary Clinton flip-flopped now.... to take a position 180 degrees from faulting Bush for his, according to Democrats, acting "unilaterally" on Iraq?

Opportunistic politics, anyone.... or just an old page from the Democrat handbook? The page that requires them to fault Bush for any position he takes, without regard for their own old positions and rhetoric on the same subject.

Sort of that multi-faced damned if you do, damned if you don't sort of thing....

Republican John Spencer says his opponent, Hillary Clinton, took campaign "Moo-lah" from Iran regime "Mullahs"

It appears that the same Hillary Clinton who just came out with an emphatic macho war-hawk stand faulting the Bush administration on its diplomatic approach to a multilateral solution on nuclear weapons-hungry Iran, has been on the receiving end of campaign contributions from Arab-Americans who support the theocratic pro-nuclear regime in Iran (ie. the mad Mullahs and mad-mad Ahmadinijad).

Let's see now.... how many sides are there to Hillary Clinton's face....? And to her political positions....?

You be da judge....

Read about this charge made by Republican John Spencer, the Iron Matron's opposition in the upcoming New York's U.S. Senate, race below and here.
"John Spencer Blasts Hillary Clinton's 'Mullah Moo-lah'"

"GOP Senate challenger John Spencer blasted Sen. Hillary Clinton on Saturday for accepting campaign cash from Iranian-Americans who he said are sympathetic to the radical Islamist regime of Iranian President Mahmoud Amhadinejad.

Addressing a GOP candidates forum in Syracuse, New York, Spencer charged that Mrs. Clinton had been raising "raising moo-lah from the mullahs" - in quotes picked up by the New York Times.

In a press release posted to Spencer's web site, the candidate alleges that two of Mrs. Clinton's wealthy Iranian-American donors are "associated with the American Iranian Council, a pro-regime anti-sanctions group."

Spencer cited a March 2004 report in Insight Magazine, which described the American-Iranian Council as "a pro-regime lobbying group trying to get Congress and the Bush administration to lift the trade embargo on Iran...."

About that "truce" being offered by Osama bin Laden....

Do you suppose it's because he's lonely without the existence of his loyal top aides who were blown off the Waziristan landscape in Pakistan this week....?

Or.... did al Jazeera already have this video in the can in the event of such a devastating occurence happening?

Or.... did he and Zawahiri get bombed along with them....? After all, that was supposed to be a major al Qaeda "summit" taking place. Surely, such an important summit would be graced by those at the very top of the terrorist group's hierarchy....

Radioblogger: Transcript of Hugh Hewitt's interview with Vice President Dick Cheney....

Folks, you don't want to miss this Hugh Hewitt interview with our V.P., "Vice President Richard Cheney on the economy, ANWAR, Iran, NSA, Avian Flu and Jack Cafferty's nuttiness." It can be found at radioblogger, where you will also find this link:

The outstanding and informative interview begins:

"HH: Mr. Vice President, welcome back to the Hugh Hewitt Show. Great to have you.

DC: Well, it's good to talk to you again, Hugh.

HH: We have had an astonishing run of economic good news. Fourth quarter GDP at 4.1%, inflation last year only 3.4%. 25 years ago today, Ronald Reagan got sworn in, and inflation was 13.5%. 2 million new jobs in '05, unemployment's at 4.5%, Mr. Cheney, but the Congress doesn't want to renew the tax cuts that powered this beast.

DC: I know, and it's very important that we get that done. I think you can trace the beginning of this significance period of economic growth back to the Spring of '03, when we cut the rate on cap. gains and dividends, and accelerated the rate reductions across the board. I think that was one of the most important decisions we've made as a government, and I think it is absolutely essential that we keep those rates going forward...."

....and continues at the above link.

This is what the mad Mullahs and mad-mad Mahmoud Ahmadinijad want for Israel.... and America.... and Europe....

First, they want anti-Semitic Europe to take all the Jews in Israel into their countries and assures them that Israelis would come, if only they would take them in.

Read all about it here, where it is reported that mad-mad Mahoud Ahmadinejad, who just happens to be Iran's President, made a new attack on the existence of Israel and has "challenged Europe to take back the Jews who emigrated to Israel, adding that no Jews would remain in Israel if Europe were to open its doors."

Also in the article, "Ahmadinejad delivered the challenge after arriving in Syria for a two-day visit on Thursday. Addressing Europe, he asked: 'Would you open the doors of your own countries to these (Jewish) immigrants so that they could travel to any part of Europe they chose? Would you offer the necessary guarantees that you would provide for their security when they came to your countries and not allow another anti-Semitic wave in Europe?'.... in an apparent reference to recent attacks on Jewish cemeteries and properties in European states.

Ahmadinejad provoked an international outcries last year when he said 'Israel should be wiped out' and that the Nazi Holocaust against Jews in World War II was a 'myth....'

Ahmadinejad forecast that the West would not answer the questions he had posed but would instead accuse him of 'talking against global peace.' He said Europe should welcome Jewish people to prove its sincerity in supporting people's freedoms. He added he was confident that no Jews would remain in Israel if European countries allowed them to immigrate...."

Apparently, mad-mad Mahmoud thinks he can buy time now and then save nukes later by getting the Jews accepted and moved to Europe first.... then nuking both Jews and Europe all at once, while Iran takes over Israel---the historic home of the Jewish people. Not of the Palestinian people.... of the Jewish people. Then, who would be their obvious next target....?

It appears the success of the U.S., its Allies, and the Iraqis in the Iraq War and the establishment of a democratic government in Iraq---complete with a Constitution to protect the peoples' rights and freedoms---is just too much for Ahmadinijad and the Mullahs to swallow. And just enough to set them on a path to destruction of others and, ultimately, of themselves.

U.S. House of Representatives member, J. D. Hayworth, has a hot-off-the-press new book on Mexico's illegal alien "gateway to America."

U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth of Arizona now has a new book out, Whatever It Takes, and it is hot-off-the-press. It is also a very much needed, high-profile exposure of critical U.S. border and immigration problems and the problem of U.S. failure to enforce current, on-the-books border and immigration laws.

I also saw Rep. Hayworth on Fox News Channel earlier this week discussing his new book and the urgent problems we are facing with the illegal alien invasion into the United States. He also talked about Mexico's and their military's support for that invasion---including unauthorized Mexican military incursions into this country to aide illegal trafficking.

In a column here, "Congressman: Invasion Overwhelming Southwest Border," J.D. Hayworth is quoted as saying "Arizona has become the new illegal gateway to America. As a congressman representing the fifth congressional district of Arizona, I am all too aware of the chaos caused by the illegal invasion taking place in the state I love and call home.

At minimum, almost 4,500 people cross into Arizona illegally each day without getting caught, while another 1,500 are apprehended. This means for every illegal alien caught at the border, three make it in, although I have seen some estimates claiming the ratio is as high as one to ten. Try getting odds like that in Vegas.

This invasion has overwhelmed the Border Patrol, devastated communities, ruined the environment, and tested the patience and pocketbooks of Arizona’s citizens."

I have put this on my must read list. Many of you might want to, as well....

The 180 degree reversal of anti-Vietnam War pacifist and protestor Hillary Clinton and now-gone-mad Al Gore....

While Al Gore was in Vietnam for 4 1/2 months and under the watchful guard of two bodyguards as he smoked pot, wandered around in the elephant grass and stared down the barrel of a gun, anti-Vietnam War activist Hillary Clinton was in Great Britain and Moscow, Russia with like-minded draft-dodging Bill Clinton---burning American flags.

Now, while Al Gore is rabidly spouting anti-Iraq War and anti-Bush rhetoric, Hillary Clinton is trying to hoodoo the American people by desperately trying to appear as having morphed into a strongly pro-military hawk who faults President George W. Bush for not taking a unilateral aggressive stand on desperate-to-be-a -nuclear-power Iran. Go figure....

Truth to the American people: Hillary Clinton is not now and never has been a pro-military hawk.

With all of Hillary Clinton's past baggage, she does not stand a snowball's chance in hell of fooling red-state America into believing that she has what it takes to succeed our current Commander-in-Chief---or into taking seriously her flip-flopping hawkish rhetoric about Iran.

Such smoke-and-mirrors will get her nowhere.... preferably sooner, rather than later.

Even Democrat journalist Molly Ivins says she won't vote for Hillary. You can read about it here.

United Nations' procurement chief Andrew Toh suspended from all U.N. responsibilities & management of computer systems, security and facilities....

Quelle suprise! Another United nation's scandal is a-brewing and is the subject of an internal investigation. This one even includes purchasing and management of computer systems, security and U.N. or U.N. affiliated facilities. One has to wonder what security, computer systems, and facilities have been breached.... and how.

Putting any sunshine on U.N. secrecy, unaccountability and below-the-radar internal violations of both the law and its Charter has, up to the recent Oil-for-Food fraud exposure, been an excercise in total futility---especially during the watch of Secretary General Boutro-Boutros Ghali and the watch of his successor, Secretary General Kofi Annan, who has allowed or directed the shredding of many internal and possibly incriminating U.N documents.

Oh, for another Secretary General Dag Hamerschold.... But, those days are gone forever at Turtle Bay, unfortunately. So is the U.N.'s last shred of credibility and relevance.

The U.N. is now, as Jed Babbin said a year or so ago, "a Mafia gone global." What is needed now is for it to be totally just GONE....!!

Read about this new internal investigation and expulsion of 8 U.N. officials below and at today's washingtontimes.
"U.N. probes possible fraud"

U.N. procurement chief Andrew Toh has been placed on leave pending the completion of an internal probe into suspected fraud in U.N. purchasing, officials said yesterday. Mr. Toh said he has done nothing wrong.

Mr. Toh, the assistant secretary-general for central support services and a Singapore national, was the highest ranking of eight individuals suspended with pay earlier this week as part of an investigation by the U.N. Office of Internal Oversight Services, the officials said.

The suspensions raise the question whether the United Nations is on the brink of another scandal after extensive probes into the defunct U.N. oil-for-food program in Iraq. U.N. procurement division chief Christian Saunders, who works for Mr. Toh, has also been put on leave with pay....

The internal probe grew out of an investigation into contracts in the U.N. peacekeeping department, which fields about 85,000 troops, police and civilians in missions around the world. Names of companies involved in wrongdoing are expected to emerge when the inquiry is officially made public....

The internal inquiry began after a purchasing officer, Alexander Yakovlev, pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court in August to wire fraud and money laundering. A U.N.-appointed commission investigating the defunct oil-for-food program had accused Yakovlev of pocketing more than $950,000 in illegal payments from companies seeking U.N. contracts....

Mr. Toh was suspended from his procurement duties in August as the internal investigation got under way. This week marked his suspension from all his U.N. responsibilities, including the management of computer systems, security and facilities...."

Some U.S. Congress members' new self-help group....

"Highs" have become lows for some members of the U.S. Congress who think public service is a means to enrich themselves and stuff their campaign coffers....

As a result, the term "self-help" has taken on an entirely new meaning. But, their on-going form of monetary enrichment through "self-help" has been going on for much, much longer than six years. It did not begin with the George W. Bush administration.

Those who have been on the receiving end of lobbyists' and some special interests' largesse and the campaign contributions engendered--- through nefarious means--- for their perpetual fund-raising to turn a seat in the Congress into lifetime tenure, need a reality check and need to come clean with the American people. They also need a one-way trip back home.... permanently.

And it doesn't matter which political party calls them a member. This should be an equal-opportunity exit from the national political scene.

Washington, DC, particularly the halls of Congress, K-Street and some political palm-greasing interest groups, need a good scrubbing.

And some Congress members and political operatives also need their mouths washed out with soap!

What federal officials are aware of and interested in the the Jack Abramoff scandal....

Readers, here is some insight into what the Abramoff investigation is about and what was done to the Tigua Indian Tribe in the pursuit of acquiring Indian money for political purposes, possibly to influence or bribe some members of the U.S. Congress---in both chambers, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representives.

Buying and selling influence and votes is a big huge no-no and may ultimately land some people in high places in federal stoney-lonesome. Jack Abramoff will be there.... and he may well have some familiar faces there to keep him company.

It would also be interesting to know who, if anyone, on the state level in Texas knew of this fleecing of the Tigua Tribe and why political contributions were made to U.S. Congress members of many other states, including Democrat Sen. Hillary Clinton and Democrat Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.

You can read more below and here.
"Federal investigators follow Abramoff money"

".... let me share some likely new information about the investigation of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, and about the growing scandal over the lobbying of Congress and others on behalf of various casino gambling establishments and Indian tribes.....

Our publications have learned that federal officials are aware of, and interested in, the source of the funds that helped build and operate the Tigua Tribe's Speaking Rock Casino in Texas.
This is the casino that Abramoff and others helped to shut down by allegedly using their considerable political muscle, only to quickly approach the same defeated Indian tribe with a plan called ''Operation Open Doors.''

This plan was allegedly the front to a scheme designed to take millions of dollars in exchange for opening doors to congressional and other political support that could allow the closed casino to reopen.

The plan failed, leaving the Tigua Indians with no casino. All of this is old news. What's ''new news'' is an emerging connection of the dots by interested parties. They are starting to ask critical questions about what other powerful entities might have played a role in the rise and fall of the seemingly defrauded Tigua tribe...."

Who's in bed with Iran....?

They tried so hard to make us believe they would resist playing both sides.... but then they threw resistance to the winds and succumbed to the lure, temptation, and charms of booger-man-scary Mahmoud, Iran's $$billions$$, and liquid gold that flows in the form of greased-palm oil....

In defense of Brokeback Mountain, (which, under other circumstances I would not do), their cowboys were only married men.... not prostitutes.

Looks like Mahmoud Ahmadinijad is ready for a cigarette.... no doubt made in China or Russia.

Rich Lowry praises the "saboteurs of the status quo," as preferable to conciliating, static "detente."

From the Cold War to the Iraq War and war against terrorism, Rich Lowry fisks the historical defenders of the status quo, choosing instead to praise the "Saboteurs of the Status Quo: The power of vision and fearlessness," in his *****Five Star, must read column at today's nationalreview.

To give you the gist of it, here are some of the highlights.... more at the above link.

"John Lewis Gaddis, author of a half-dozen books on the topic, is the nation’s foremost historian of the Cold War. So when in the 1980s he dismissed Ronald Reagan’s goal of ending the Cold War, arguing instead that the American-Soviet competition had settled into a stable “long peace,” it would have been natural to conclude that Gaddis, the august expert, was right.

He was wrong, of course. Gaddis explains why in his crackling-good, recently published book,
The Cold War: A New History. It holds lessons for today in its reminder of how inspired people, armed with truth and morality, can force epochal historical changes....

....(Margaret)Thatcher: “I had long understood that détente had been ruthlessly used by the Soviets to exploit western weakness and disarray. I knew the beast.” Gaddis comments, “Not since Churchill had a British leader used language in this way: suddenly words, not euphemisms, were being used again to speak truths, not platitudes.

Bush looks at the absurdity of a Middle East blotted with dictatorships, and of a great religion producing monstrous suicide bombers, and dares to try to create something better. He realizes the moral and spiritual bankruptcy of the status quo in the Middle East and in the precincts of Islam that tolerate mass murder, and says so unapologetically. This doesn’t make him the next Reagan or Thatcher by any means, but he has some of their vision and fearlessness...."

Perhaps, in the end, we will see that George W. Bush is every bit as great as Reagan and Thatcher. Can we really say the cold war has ended when Russia.... and now China.... are the main countries now arming Iran with nuclear weapons and strategic military weaponry, as well as planes to deliver those weapons.

What's next.... the dual use satellite technology U.S. President Bill Clinton allowed his major political campaign contributor to sell to China being, in turn, sold to Iran?

Maybe what we had for so many years after the Cold War was more "detente" than the end of the Cold War itself.

Victor Davis Hanson.... on making sense of nonsense about what wer're in in the Middle East

Another outstanding *****Five Star, must read column by Victor Davis Hanson at nationalreview today, in which he sorts out the nonsense of the alternating pro and con positions and arguments of the anti-war, establishmentarian left---both here in the U.S. and in Europe and the Middle East, as well. Nobody does it better than Hanson.

Some excerpts below.... entire piece at above link:
"Making Sense of NonsenseUnderstanding what we’re in."

"The United States is engaged in the most radical and dangerous gambit in the Middle East since the end of the Ottoman Empire. Established powers are not often inclined to tamper with the status quo abroad, and so do not support the weaker and disenfranchised. They usually prefer to prop up whoever ensures order and stability. But after September 11, the old safe way was seen as dangerous, and the new dangerous way as ultimately more safe....

In the larger Middle East, the democratic splash in the Iraqi pond is slowly rippling out, as voting proceeds in Egypt and the Gulf, Syria leaves Lebanon, and Moammar Gadhafi and Pakistan’s Dr. Khan cease their nuclear machinations. Hundreds of thousands of protesters hit the streets in Lebanon and Jordan—not to slur the United States, as predicted, for removing Saddam Hussein, but to damn Bashar Assad and al-Zarqawi as terrorist killers. Walid Jumblatt, the Lebanese Druze leader, now calls for Western pressure to root out the Syrian Baathists.

You’d never know all this from the global media or state-run news services in Europe and the Middle East...."

U.S. Senate hard-left Democrats are still obsessively fishing with bait that will never catch Judge Samuel Alito....

Such as.... race-baiting, ethnic-slur baiting, anti-feminist-slime baiting, pro-spying slander baiting, and anti-Roe worship baiting....

andonandonandonandonandon ad nauseum.

Face it, Dems.... you've lost!! Suck it up and get on with the vote!!

Always Right, Usually Correct's "Racist, racist, who's a racist?": On Hillary Clinton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, & Mayor Ray Nagin,et al....

Readers, do go to alwaysrightusuallycorrect and read their 17 Jan 05 posting, "Racist, racist, who's a racist?" You'll be glad you did.

One excerpt, here:

"What this means is the black leaders are not truly worried about racism. They are strictly worried about power...their own power. The more they falsely portray their enemies as being racist and convince their following of their own victimhood just for being alive, the more these immoral thugs hold onto their power. Who is their enemy? The very party that helped to get them Civil Rights, the very party that helped end slavery and the party that fights to remove people's dependency on third parties...."

Need I say more....?

Hillary Clinton's "plantation...."

Unfortunately.... and fortunately, we all know what she means....!

Hat-tip to Cox & Forkum.

Race-baiting and ethnic slurring are major weapons for today's hard-left Democrats....without regard for direct or collateral damage....

Race-baiting and "ethnic slurring" seem to be major weapons in the arsenals of the hard-left wing of the Democrat party these days.

On that subject, there is an outstanding *****Five Star, must read column today, Alito: Victim of Leftist Racism, written by By Michael P. Tremoglie and found in its entirety at frontpagemag. You will want to read the whole piece.

Some excerpts below:
"The invective spouted by the Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats during Judge Samuel Alito’s confirmation hearing for appointment to the Supreme Court was incredible.

The Democrats, on orders from their feminist ringmasters, did anything they could to tarnish Alito’s record.

Since they could not condemn Alito’s competence, they did what liberals normally do: spew ad hominems. They implied Alito is a racist, sexist, homophobe, who wants an imperial presidency and will condemn the working person to a life of poverty.

Their proof? They had nothing except distortions of Alito’s record....

The fact is, today the real racism is from leftists. Consider these reactions by those opposed to Alito’s confirmation:..."

Will Hillary Clinton's race-baiting use of the word "plantation" damage the South....?

It apparently isn't enough for Hillary Clinton---and people like Al Sharpton, who defend her race-baiting, repeated use of the word "plantation"---to simply make a comment that rules and procedures in the U.S. House of Representatives chamber of Congress should be changed. She, and they, have to make it a racial issue in order to play to their base---a base that has become more and more base in their politics of personal destruction.

So, now it seems politics of personal destruction has become so much a favorite weapon of the hard-left that they now apply it to smearing governmental bodies and entire regions of the country and their culture and heritage.

It is entirely possible that this smearing of the House of Representatives, by imputing racism that occurred in the South to them and to a whole geographic region of the country that is basicly red-state country, is an indication that they now intend to blacken the entire South to hold onto voters of African-American heritage who are now fleeing the ever more extreme Democrat party.

Will this hurt tourism in the South, where many thousands come to visit historic places and study southern history and culture each year? Probably. Is this something a U.S. Senator should cause, to suit his or her own purposes? No.

Hillary Clinton knows the rules and procedures in the House and Senate are made by the members and changed by the members---and that the current rules are rules that have been long-used by both major political parties as they, in turn, have been elected by the voters to be the majority party in each chamber of Congress.

Change can be a good thing sometimes, but it needs to be brought about honorably and ethically, not through political race-baiting that divides the country and our people.

As a southerner, I take exception to that malicious tactic and Clinton's perjorative use of the word "plantation"---and encourage southern Governors, legislatures, Chambers of Commerce and citizens to let U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton, D-NY know that her racist and discriminatory words are unacceptable.

Readers, you can use PelicanPost sidebar links to register your opinions and complaints with Senator Clinton and the appropriate people who represent your states.

And, for the record, not all southerners---past or present---approved of slavery that occurred on plantations and elsewhere, or that occurs today in many parts of the world.

As a demonstration of that fact, and in answer to our readers who ask for more poetry on this blogsite, here is a poem that speaks to the low-country history, including its plantations, of Charles Towne---a British crown colony in Carolina that was settled by the Seven Lords Proprietors---and is now called Charleston, South Carolina. It was written in 1992.

Low Country Stages

Proud, dressed up ante-bellum plantations
reign regally in the warm southern sun,
keepers of colonial traditions,
where history‘s enchanting stories run.

Countless memories these aged homes must hold
in recesses of each antique-filled room.
Tales of lords and ladies remain untold;
their presence still strolls in gardens abloom.

Long roadways stretch toward stately columns
that grace cool verandas with stale footprints
and reveries that could fill up volumes
with gentry, mint juleps, gardenia scents.

Mighty Spanish Oaks line such avenues;
they spread and fan broad umbrellas over
well-trodden pathways through expanding views,
steeped in breeze from their generous cover.

Small acorns descend on accepting ground
underneath fine lace of moss-hung arbor.
Nature’s sentinels watch with little sound,
providing their charges with safe harbor.

Tiny roots creep down dark hidden shadows
anchoring a grip on the moist, brown earth.
Quiet raindrops seep into trackless flows,
nourishing young Spring’s glorious rebirth.

Nearby, the pungent aroma of marsh
wafts inland astride each salty, fresh breath
as the tidal waters in and out wash,
everlastingly drawing back and forth.

Billowy waves carry ocean treasures,
swept along in an aimless, surging ride;
for bounties they hold, there are no measures;
precious traces are left by each high tide.

Mysterious, deep currents stretch and reach,
drenching earth-age hills and valleys below.
Shifting sands settle on welcoming beach
as the sea continues its ebb and flow.

While whispering winds bend graceful sea oats
that render glistening sand dunes secure,
soaring gulls above with snowy-white throats
spy driftwood and shells’ final signature.

Ancientness with new existence merges
as burgeoning progeny issue forth,
spawn and increase with primeval urges,
quickening along life’s connecting path.

Captive breezes crowd into full-blown sails
propelling their hosts by barnacled walls
where an endless troupe has stood at the rails
waiting or responding to the sea’s calls.

Eyes explored wat’ry expanses to see
from where seven Lords Proprietors came
to Carolina with land grants to be
aristocrats of sovereign acclaim.

Some planted fields of rice and indigo;
others cotton, which brought prosperity.
Colonies continued to thrive and grow
among unrestrained opportunity.

Yet, enslaved humankind was bought and sold
at Charles Towne’s Slave Market---a shameful time.
How could greatness cling to bondage so cold?
Such injustice held forth dire paradigm.

Freedom was won in the Revolution
but its meaning was not for all the same.
Then Civil War divided the nation;
‘neath Confederate flag, some played death’s game.

Huge magnolias witnessed the dreaded fight
proud rebels joined to champion their cause.
Sherman’s fires engulfed even darkest night,
‘til peace gained at Appomattox gave pause.

For wealth, some were blind to the sacrifice
made by those on whose backs cotton flourished;
absent compelled labor, none did suffice;
production faltered and almost perished.

Strong resistance to change hampered a few
as the South began to heal and restore.
Pieces picked up, people began anew;
many could proceed through an opened door.

A current mecca for all the lowlands,
today’s Charleston presents a freshened face;
as beacon for posterity it stands,
lighting past and present in one embrace.

Cobblestone streets pass alluring mansions
arrayed in a pastel-tinted rainbow.
Throngs travel far in quest of such visions,
awash in a timeless and sultry glow.

Old sidewalks dotted with flower ladies
border spots where revered landmarks abound.
Horse-drawn buggies traverse narrow alleys;
guides steer the way sharing sagas profound.

Plantation paragons sought with fervor
reveal remembrances of sundry kinds;
details are featured in low-country lore,
captivating senses, fancies and minds.

Two hundred years’ culture and heritage
is lavish storehouse for further recall---
countless verse and rhyme for another stage,
with yesteryear cast as belle of the ball.
